For a brief period in history polybutylene pipe, also known as “Poly B” was used by builders for potable water supply in homes. After some time it was discovered that this pipe was failing and found to be incompatible with water supplied by municipalities.
As a result more often than not, this pipe would burst under normal operation leaving homes with water damage and flooding.
Lawsuits were filled against manufacturers and for the homes across North America with Poly B the future was uncertain.
It is strongly suggested that any homes that still have Poly B pipe in use should have it replaced. In some cases insurance providers will not cover a building with this pipe being used.
Replacing this pipe can be done in a few days. Access behind drywall is needed but for the most part it is not an extreme undertaking and this can be done without any major hiccups to family life in the home. If you know or think you might have Poly B in your home reach out today so we can help get this fixed for you.
